What the Bible says about demons and the spirit world

What the Bible says about Demons/spirit world

Worship God only

Matthew 4:10 - “Jesus answered: “It is written: ‘Worship the LORD your God and serve Him only.’”

Satan is a murderer and a liar

John 8:44 - “You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”

Satan looks to devour

1 Peter 5:8 - “Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”

But, Christians need not be afraid of Satan

James 4:7 - “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you”

Jesus has already defeated Satan!!!

1 John 3:8 - “The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.”

Christians need to test the spirits

1 John 4:1-3 - “Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

2 This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,

3 but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.”

Paul told us how we can resist Satan.

Ephesians 6:10-17 - “ 10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.”

Greater is He that is in you!

1 John 4:4 - “4 You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.”

Luke 11:1-13 Small Group questions

Luke 11:1-13 Small Group Questions 11  One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.” 2  He said to them, “When you pray, say: “‘ Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. 3  Give us each day our daily bread. 4  Forgive us our sins,     for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation.’” 5  Then Jesus said to them, “Suppose you have a friend, and you go to him at midnight and say, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread;  6  a friend of mine on a journey has come to me, and I have no food to offer him.’  7  And suppose the one inside answers, ‘Don’t bother me. The door is already locked, and my children and I are in bed. I can’t get up and give you anything.’  8  I tell you, even though he will not get up and g...
